Stubborn Blackheads

How many of you out there has a problem with blackheads??

           *RAISES her hand*

I have a combination type of skin.  Oily on the T-zone and dry on the sides of my cheekbones.  Ever since I started working in an air-conditioned place, my face started getting oily and with the constant use of mask (I work as a nurse), blackheads started forming on my nose especially.  It looked pretty awful to me, especially when I am fair, my blackheads seem to be even more obvious or eye-catching when one converses with me.  I did not like my blackheads at all.

Being me, I decided that I would read a little more about blackheads and how I could remove them.  From several websites, it is said that blackheads are actually a type of acne, that is called an open comedone.  When excess oil is produced from the skin pores, the oil occludes the pores, which results in ‘a ball of accumulated oil’ which, when exposed to air, turns black in colour.  Blackheads are actually present in almost any skin type, they are however, most likely to develop on people with very oily skin.
I had a hard time removing my blackheads.  I went for facials in hope to remove all my blackheads and that’s it!  However, the problem was recurring and blackheads never seemed to leave me alone.  But through time, patience and learning experience, I realised that it’s not just about removing these blackheads.  It is to prevent and maintain your skin.  Now with the maintenance of my skin, my blackheads are lesser and less visible.
In future posts, I will share with you the different products that I used to aid the removal of blackheads.  I do not promise you that it will work the same.  One thing for sure, you have to understand your own skin and care for your skin to what it needs.  We change every single day, environment changes ( a moment cold, a moment hot in Singapore), as we age, our skin changes too. Therefore, the importance of flexibility of care for our skin is deem as a must.  Choose what is most suitable and good for you.
Currently, I am using Biore Pore Pack (Aroma Collection)- Romantic Rose.  I bought it from SASA at $4.95.  The smell is fabulous.  The rose smell ain’t too strong.  It did not give me a headache from it’s scent.

Usually I would wet my nose lightly.  I would not wet my nose very thoroughly because Biore Pore Pack tends to get a little too sticky when it’s too wet and does not remove blackheads well.  I do this twice a week with good results.  As your skin is maintained, you will have lesser blackheads seen on the pack (depending on what you did, where you go for the week).

After you peel off, it will probably turn out like the picture below. (depending on how much blackheads you have and can be removed)

These blackheads are not black when it’s removed.  It’s light yellowish white.  I know that these pore packs actually do tighten pores.  But after removing the pore pack, I would use a toner to close back my pores.

I will be back with other posts soon all related to blackheads! Till then…

Cheers!

Loves,
Roxanne
